Inquiry project
What is your Inquiry question or project?
For my inquiry I’m improving my drawing skills. In order to improve I try to draw everyday for about 30 minutes or so. I’m focusing on drawing body figures, I chose body figures because I need improvement in drawing human beings. I’ve asked a family friend who is an art student to give me advice on how I can make my drawings better.
What challenges have you faced? How will you overcome this?
My challenges were that I wouldn’t draw everyday and that drawing would become something I have to do not something I enjoy. I will overcome my challenges by not being too strict about how often and how long I have to draw for. But I wont be to loose that I won’t draw too little. For my second challenge I will try not to stress over this project because when I get worried about a project I tend to not work on it that much.
What are your next steps?
My next steps are to add details into my drawings instead of just drawing figures i want to start drawing details like clothes, hair and facial features. I want to make them look like they are characters not just shapes.
TKAM Chapters 24-31
I found it hard to write about these past pages. So much happened, I didn’t expect any of it. The most astounding part was when Bob Ewells attacked Jem and Scout after the show. I don’t think I could ever understand how an adult could attack a child. I was even more amazed that Boo came to the rescue. I wish that there was a part in the book that describes Jem’s reaction when he finds out that Boo Radley saved them from Mr.Ewells. The book had a slow start but the ending was worth it.
TKAM Chapters 16-23
I found that these chapters have been the most interesting in the whole book, in my opinion of course. It was the most informational so far. In these few pages you learn a lot about the racism and how much it really had an impact on society. It was almost sickening how Tom Robinson was still found guilty even after all the facts showed he was not the one that did it. It was nice to see everyone still caring about Atticus and giving so many gifts to their family. These chapters also showed how racial situations didn’t just affect men and women but children too.
TKAM – Chapters 11-15
In these chapters Jem turns 12 years old. Scout and Jems relationship isn’t as good anymore because Jem doesn’t want to play with Scout anymore. In chapter 11 Jem gets angry at Mrs. Dubose for talking bad about Atticus and trashes her front yard. I personally don’t like Mrs. Dubose. When Atticus finds out he tells Jem that he has to apologize to her, he cleans up the mess he made and apologizes. Mrs. Dubose wants him to read to her everyday after school. He reads to her everyday but everytime he goes he goes home a little bit early. Turns out that she was a morphine addict and she was trying to break her addiction. Even though she had a morphine doesn’t mean she has the right to trash talk Atticus.
TKAM – Chapters 6-10
Throughout chapters 6-10 there have been alot of important events. In chapter 6 Dill, Jem and Scout decide to peek in the Radley’s shutters, they see someone and run away as Jem was running his pants get caught on a fence. When Atticus asks what happened to his pants Dill says that they were playing strip poker. In chapter 7 they check the hole and they find carved soap that looks like them,a medal, a watch and gum the next day the hole was filled with cement. They ask Mr. Radley about the tree he said that he filled the hole because it was dying. In chapter 8 Scout screams that the world is ending, but it was snowing later that night Miss Maudie’s house caught on fire. In chapter 9 Scout meets with her cousing Francis and calls Atticus a horrible name, their uncle, Jack breaks up the fight and everyone believed that Scout started it, later she tells uncle Jack what really happened. Finally in chapter 10 the mad dog appeared and the sheriff asked Atticus to shoot it but he refused. But because he didn’t have a choice he shot the mad dog. Miss Maudie told the children that Atticus was the deadliest shot in Maycomb.
To kill a mockingbird I-search
While I was reading and looking for something that made me interested I didn’t really find anything other that the “The Grey Ghost” reference so I decided to do my I-search project on it.
The Gray Ghost is one of a series of children’s adventure books written in the 1920s and early 30’s by Seckatary Hawkins about a fun-loving gang of kids who have adventures and meet interesting folks. The story takes place on a ship; and that that two of the characters are Three-Fingered Fred and Stoner’s Boy. Stoner’s Boy is alot like Boo Radley he had been accused of crimes; that “they all thought it was Stoner’s Boy messin’ up their clubhouse and throwin’ ink all over it…” and no one has seen him commit any crimes. Stoner’s boy had never really done anything wrong. People had just misjudged him. It was the very thing that people had done to Boo Radley.
Dill bet Jem The Grey Ghost against two Tom Swifts that Jem wouldn’t get any farther than the Radley’s gate. In all of Jems life, Jem hadn’t refused a dare. Later in the book Atticus reads the book to Scout which turns into the moral of the story.
To Kill A Mockingbird update 1
I finished reading chapters 1 to 5 of To Kill A Mockingbird. At first I was confused as to what gender the main protagonist was because she plays with her brother and is a tomboy. I don’t dislike the book but I’m also not a big fan so far. In chapter two Scout prepares to go to school for the first time. When she’s at school her teacher, Miss Caroline Fisher concludes that Atticus had to have taught Scout to read. She gets mad at Scout and makes her feel guilty for being ahead of her class. Later at recess she tells Jem what happened at he tells Scout that Shes just trying a new method of teaching. I extremely dislike Miss Caroline mostly because she’s terrible with children, but mostly just with Scout.
Inquiry Update #2
My story is about an eight year old girl named Anna and her doll. Her mother and father buy her a doll. The doll reminds Anna’s mother, Melanie of something that she’s terrified of. Anna gets attached to the doll that she earlier named Lily. Lily seems to be able to talk to Anna.
My story is going to be horror/thriller genre but I cant be sure if people are going to find it scary. Since I am using this story for my inquiry and theme I am going to continue writing my story for my inquiry project but I am going to just keep the seed for my perspective project.
Inquiry Update #1
I’m writing a short story for my inquiry project which I will also be using for my perspective short story. I’m still deciding on the setting of my story and I’m trying to make the beginning longer to meet the criteria of the perspective short story.
At the moment I’ve decided to write about a girl who get’s a doll as a present from her parents. The girls name is Anna and she names her doll Lily.
I’m still figuring out the story as I go but that is the general idea.
make the beginning longer to meet the criteria of the perspective short story.
